In an intensely charged bout on Friday night's episode of 'WWE SmackDown', Rey Mysterio managed to retain his United States Championship against Santos Escobar, a fellow member of the Latino World Order (LWO). The excitement didn't end there.

The Street Profits launched an unanticipated attack post-match, seemingly in an effort to curry favor with Bobby Lashley. Two weeks before this showdown, Escobar publicly expressed his ambition of facing his mentor, Mysterio.

The latter, who openly acknowledged the challenge, vowed to give his protégé the "fight of his life". Adding drama to the already explosive setup, he also hinted that Escobar should "be careful what you wish for".

The presence of Zelina Vega at ringside added another layer to this theatrical encounter. Caught in the emotional crossfire, she seemed torn between her allegiances. The face-off between Mysterio and Escobar witnessed some heart-stopping moments.

At one point, Escobar masterfully dodged Mysterio's signature 619 move, and the counteractions that followed had audiences at the edge of their seats.

Street Profits' Shocking Ambush

The climax of the match saw Mysterio managing to reverse Escobar's Phantom Driver and successfully pinning him down.

But just as the two fighters were about to share a moment of mutual respect, the Street Profits blindsided them both. Their interruption, which appears to be a move to impress Bobby Lashley, halted Cruz Del Toro from defending his fellow LWO members.

Additionally, Dragon Lee, spectating from the front row, was held back by security from jumping in aid. The aftermath was equally dramatic. Backstage, both Mysterio and Escobar were seen receiving medical attention. A clearly irate Mysterio fired back at the Street Profits, challenging them by saying they don’t run "SmackDown".

He further threw down the gauntlet, proposing a tag team face-off against Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins at the forthcoming WWE Fastlane on October 7th. The wrestling community is buzzing in anticipation of what promises to be yet another memorable showdown.
