Over the past few years, the wrestling world has watched as stars made the shift from Tony Khan's AEW to the colossal stage of WWE. The recent excitement revolves around Lexis King, previously known as Brian Pillman Jr., who took center stage on WWE's developmental brand with a riveting promo that has fans buzzing about his impending in-ring debut.

Jade Cargill's transition from AEW to WWE earlier this year was pivotal, reshaping the dynamics of the women's division. Similarly, Cody Rhodes' sensational move in 2022 saw him square off against and defeat Seth Rollins in a memorable bout at WrestleMania 38.

King's WWE Debut

However, all eyes are now on Brian Pillman Jr. In the most recent NXT episode, under the name Lexis King, he delivered a promo that has set the WWE Universe alight. Following what many deem as a less-than-fruitful stint with AEW, King's arrival in WWE is viewed as a fresh start.

So, what led Brian Pillman Jr. to this point? Making his debut with AEW in 2019, Pillman shifted to this promotion when MLW shuttered temporarily amidst the pandemic. Starting on the lower rungs with appearances on Dark and Elevation, he later partnered with Griff Garrison and Julia Hart to form the beloved tag team, the Varsity Blondes. Despite signing a full-time contract in 2021, many felt AEW underutilized the team, often relegating them to losses. Their story took a twist when Julia Hart betrayed Pillman and Garrison, aligning herself with The House of Black.

Following a series of unfortunate events, including a name rights dispute and losses to Tony Neese and Josh Woods, who rebranded as the Varsity Athletes, Pillman took a hiatus. This pause ended with the conclusion of his AEW contract and a subsequent WWE tryout.

Now, as Lexis King in NXT, speculation abounds regarding WWE's plans for this second-generation superstar. Given the wave he's already created, fans eagerly anticipate the chapters that unfold in the coming weeks.
