Many reports suggest from different outlets that we may get to see Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya at the WWE Super ShowDown PPV event which will take place in Saudi Arabia today. If that happens, it would be the first women’s wrestling match ever to take place in the kingdom.
According to Dave Meltzer, the WWE officials are not talking about the match at all. Bliss and Natalya are currently in Saudi Arabia but according to reports, they do not know whether they will wrestle or not. Meltzer stated that there is no reason why they wouldn’t be allowed to perform as the country has seen some radical changes recently.
Female athletes, entertainers and circus performers perform in the kingdom now, thanks to the current Crown Prince’s vision of restoring a moderate Islam. Of course, that was met with a lot of backlash. Even though the match may not take place today, Meltzer believes that they will be there to announce that they will perform next year.
They are so far hidden for this event. The next event that will take place in Saudi Arabia will most likely be in November. Originally, the WWE wanted Natalya to wrestle Nix Jax in the event. Jax is injured and required double knee surgery.
That is the reason why she isn’t going to perform at the SSD event. Meltzer also pointed that women’s wrestling matches were probably part of WWE’s 10 year deal with Saudi Arabia.
