In a dramatic turn of events on the latest episode of WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes, reeling from the loss of the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships alongside his partner "Main Event" Jey Uso, made an emphatic return with revenge on his mind.

The evening saw Cody Rhodes disrupt the opening moments of the show, confronting the newly crowned tag team champions, Finn Balor and Damian Priest, in a bid to settle some unfinished business. With charisma and bravado, Rhodes took the center stage, playfully inquiring how it felt for the champions to be interrupted for once.

However, his comments took a cheeky twist when he referred to Rhea Ripley as the collective "Mami" of the champions, drawing a response from Damian Priest. Priest took the opportunity to highlight the damage inflicted by their faction, The Judgment Day, on "The American Nightmare" in the preceding week.

The challenge was laid down: Cody Rhodes versus Damian Priest in a one-on-one matchup at the upcoming Crown Jewel event. Rhodes, in a quick and resolute fashion, accepted the challenge. Yet, the night held further turmoil for Rhodes.

As The Judgment Day descended upon the ring, chaos ensued. This altercation ultimately resulted in Cody Rhodes sustaining a leg injury, with Priest ruthlessly targeting his ankle by trapping it between two chairs and delivering a devastating blow.

Rhodes was visibly favoring the injured ankle after a commercial break, raising questions about his physical condition heading into the premium live event, where he will face "Señor Money In the Bank."

Rhodes Dominates Priest Previously

Notably, this upcoming clash at Crown Jewel marks the second singles encounter between Cody Rhodes and Damian Priest, with Rhodes securing victory in their first encounter during a "Raw" main event back in June.

Prior to last week's tag team title change, Priest had never managed to best Rhodes in any form of competition. Cody Rhodes has also emerged victorious against Priest's fellow stablemates, Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor, on multiple occasions in singles competition throughout 2023.

The tension is palpable as these two fierce competitors prepare to square off once again, this time on a grand stage like Crown Jewel. With Rhodes nursing an ankle injury, the odds may have shifted slightly in favor of Damian Priest, but fans can undoubtedly expect a showdown filled with adrenaline and drama when these two collide.

Stay tuned for what promises to be an electrifying encounter at Crown Jewel, where scores will be settled, and rivalries will reach their zenith.
