In a candid revelation, Nick Aldis shared the inside story of his recent appointment as WWE SmackDown's new General Manager. During an appearance on Corey Graves' "After the Bell" podcast, Aldis divulged that it was Bruce Prichard, a key backstage figure in WWE's creative team, who broke the news to him.
Prichard, whose storied career in wrestling has seen him don multiple hats, currently plays a vital role in shaping WWE's creative direction. It was Prichard who acted as the messenger between WWE management and Aldis, who made a highly anticipated debut on SmackDown to resounding acclaim from both fans and critics alike.
Aldis' WWE Journey
Aldis recounted the journey that led him to WWE, stating that his initial reach-out was to Triple H. "The attitude was 'now or never.' I initiated conversations with Triple H, which later transitioned to meaningful dialogues with Bruce Prichard.
At first, the opportunity was presented in the form of being a WWE producer. Given my extensive experience behind the scenes in NWA, this was something I felt grateful for," Aldis said. Just weeks prior, it was Triple H himself who set the wrestling world abuzz, announcing Aldis as SmackDown's latest General Manager.
This marked Aldis's debut on the WWE stage, fulfilling a lifelong dream of being a part of the wrestling giant. Aldis didn't hold back in expressing his emotional turmoil during his WWE debut. While speaking to Busted Open Radio, he described the moment as nerve-wracking.
"As Triple H's entrance music blared through the arena, my heart was pounding at a furious pace. It felt like it was beating 1,000 miles an hour. I remember thinking, 'This is it. This is your moment. Knock it out of the park.' And I believe I did just that," he elaborated.
The wrestling community has warmly embraced Nick Aldis as the new face at the managerial helm of SmackDown, and if early reactions are anything to go by, his tenure promises to be a game-changer for the blue brand.
