WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is gearing up for his debut in the legendary WarGames match during the highly anticipated WWE Survivor Series: WarGames event on November 25. In a recent interview on SiriusXM's "Busted Open Radio," Rhodes shared his thoughts about participating in the iconic match, originally conceived by his late father, Dusty Rhodes, in the 1980s.

"The American Nightmare" expressed his desire to honor his father's legacy in the match. "I really want to almost, like, wax poetic about it in terms of how it's Dusty's and it was his creation," Rhodes said. He acknowledged the lasting impact of his father in the wrestling world, emphasizing how Dusty's influence seems to grow with time.

"He's just everything. He touched everything, especially on the way out. So to be able to do this is great," he added.

Rhodes on WarGames Evolution

Rhodes also discussed the evolution of WarGames under WWE's Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events, and Creative, Paul "Triple H" Levesque, who had a close relationship with Dusty Rhodes.

He voiced his respect for Triple H's adaptations to the match format, while also sharing his personal determination not to be the 'weak link' in the upcoming battle. The November 25 event will see Rhodes team up with Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, and reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins.

They will face off against Finn Bálor, Damian Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day. Speculation is rife that Drew McIntyre, who recently assisted Bálor and Priest in retaining the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, will join The Judgment Day, rounding out their team for a classic five-on-five match.

This leaves Rhodes and his team in search of a fifth member to complete their lineup. As the event draws closer, fans are eagerly anticipating how this year's WarGames will unfold, especially with Rhodes' participation adding a poignant touch to the legacy of the match.

His involvement not only honors his father's contribution to the sport but also adds a new chapter to the storied history of WarGames.
