After an 18-month hiatus due to a severe back injury and subsequent surgery, WWE superstar Randy Orton made a spectacular return at the Survivor Series during the Men’s WarGames Match, much to the excitement of WWE fans worldwide.
The anticipation for Orton's comeback had been building throughout the event. His teammates - Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Seth “Freakin” Rollins - along with team captain Cody Rhodes, were visibly anxious about Orton's participation.
Rhodes, however, remained confident, reassuring his team of Orton's arrival. The tension reached its peak during the match, with Rhodes' team facing off against The Judgment Day, comprising Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and their ally for the night, Drew McIntyre.
As the match intensified with the entrance of the first nine wrestlers, anticipation grew for the tenth participant. It was at this moment, with the countdown clock expiring, that Orton's iconic theme song "Voices" echoed throughout the arena, heralding his long-awaited return.
Orton's Dominant Return
Orton's re-emergence in the WWE ring, his first appearance since May 2022, was nothing short of dominant. He unleashed a series of powerslams, draping DDTs, and his signature RKOs, leaving the crowd in awe.
The highlight of his performance was a spectacular collaboration with Zayn and Rollins, culminating in an RKO on McDonagh from the top of the cage. However, it was Cody Rhodes who secured the win for the team by pinning Priest after executing a Cross Rhodes.
In a post-Survivor Series press conference, Cody Rhodes shared a poignant moment he had with Orton post-match, revealing the deep respect and gratitude he holds for Orton's mentorship throughout his career. Rhodes recalled Orton's words, "Thanks for the phone call," to which Rhodes internally expressed his gratitude for Orton's influence on his career trajectory.
He praised Orton as a mentor and reminisced about aspiring to emulate Orton's success. With Randy Orton's return to WWE, the dynamics within the arena are set to shift. Cody Rhodes now finds a potential ally in Orton, although speculation abounds among fans about the longevity of this alliance and the potential for a future high-profile feud between these two wrestling titans.
