In a stunning turn of events at Wrestle Kingdom 18, David Finlay emerged victorious in a thrilling three-way battle, claiming the prestigious inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. The match, which included wrestling heavyweights Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay, was a spectacle of power, strategy, and sheer willpower.

The clash kicked off in line with the pre-show press conference promises, as Ospreay and Moxley initially joined forces against Finlay. Their united front saw them dominate the early stages of the match, employing a strategic alliance to overpower Finlay.

However, their temporary truce was short-lived, as the duo soon engaged in a fierce exchange of suplexes. Ospreay's attempts at his signature Os-Cutter and a Spanish fly were skillfully countered by Moxley into a suplex, transitioning into an armbar and then a chokehold.

The tension escalated when Moxley's attempt at a Death Rider on the apron was reversed by Ospreay, only for Finlay to seize the moment and slam Moxley into the ring post, resulting in a bloody outcome.

Finlay's Dramatic Comeback Win

The intensity of the match soared as Moxley introduced steel chairs into the fray, but Finlay skillfully turned the tables, launching Moxley into his own setup.

The Bullet Club War Dogs, comprising Alex Coughlin and Gabe Kidd, intervened in support of Finlay, adding another layer of drama to the match. The climactic moments saw Moxley deliver a pair of Death Riders to Finlay, followed by Ospreay landing two Hidden Blades.

Ospreay's attempt at a Stormbreaker on Moxley was thwarted by Finlay, who broke the pin and executed Oblivion, a curb stomp, and an improvised variant of Oblivion to pin Ospreay for the win. Finlay's triumph marks a significant milestone in his career, as he becomes the first-ever IWGP Global Champion.

This victory is especially poignant, considering his history with the title. In November of the previous year, Finlay had dramatically destroyed the IWGP United States/United Kingdom Championship held by Will Ospreay. The newly minted IWGP Global Title stands as a spiritual successor to the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, which merged with the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in 2021 to form the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Finlay's remarkable win at Wrestle Kingdom 18 is not just a personal achievement but a testament to his resilience and strategic prowess in the ring. This victory is sure to resonate across the wrestling world, as Finlay sets his sights on his reign as the inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.
