WWE fans have eagerly anticipated the return of the beloved Irish superstar, Sheamus, who has been noticeably absent from WWE SmackDown since his last appearance on August 18, 2023. The Celtic Warrior's final match on the blue brand marked a memorable sendoff for Edge, now known as Adam Copeland.
The burning question on everyone's mind is: Will Sheamus make his much-awaited comeback on SmackDown tonight? The former WWE Champion has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury, which remains shrouded in mystery. Expectations were high for Sheamus's return on the November 24, 2023, episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but to the disappointment of many, he did not appear.
Brawling Brutes Disband In Sheamus's absence, his faction, The Brawling Brutes, has quietly dissolved. Ridge Holland has since returned to NXT, currently entangled in an intriguing injury storyline with NXT's top champion, Ilja Dragunov.
Meanwhile, Butch has rekindled British Strong Style with Tyler Bate, making waves at SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution. Sheamus is not scheduled to appear on the January 12, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown. However, rumors are swirling about a possible surprise entry from The Celtic Warrior in the 2024 Royal Rumble, slated to take place in just a few weeks.
Reflecting on his WrestleMania 39 performance, Sheamus candidly expressed his thoughts during an interview with Will Dalton on Virgin Media Sports Stories. He passionately stated that the Triple-Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship, featuring himself, Gunther, and Drew McIntyre, was the highlight of WrestleMania 39 and deserved the main event spot.
"I should have main evented WrestleMania last year. It should have gone on last. It stole the show at WrestleMania. Nothing came close, match-wise, to what me, Gunther, and Drew (McIntyre) had. I knew that was always going to be the case. I was so close to capturing the title at 'Mania, and it just got taken away from me," Sheamus reflected.
