This past Friday on WWE SmDown, Dakota Kai rescued Bayley from a heinous assault by the overpowering Damage CTRL collective. The tension-filled part of the show came when Bayley confronted Kai for being absent in that critical moment of last week when Kairi Sane, Asuka, and IYO SKY turned their backs against her.
She continued to tell her story in a more heartfelt revelation that during the pivotal moment, she was left on the sidelines, seeking medical clearance. The worst of it all is that she knew Damage CTRL was going to turn against Bayley, but she couldn't get the message across to her.
As for missing, Kai said that she missed the original trio, so the pattern of complicated affiliations and friendships between herself, Bayley, and SKY was thus implied. The heat was turned on when Sane, SKY, and Asuka entered with an intention to single out Bayley.
In an interesting twist that may have had viewers on the edge of their seats, Kai would rather reach for a chair—not to nail Bayley, which many assumed she was about to do—but rather to ward off Damage CTRL, effectively scattering the trio and symbolizing her allegiance to Bayley.
WrestleMania 40 Showdown
The act of defiance, therefore, sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown at WrestleMania 40, as SKY is set to square off against Bayley in her attempts to wrest away the coveted WWE Women's Championship, with an added infusion of intrigue to a storyline that is already combustible.
Meanwhile, the SmackDown episode had the charismatic Bron Breakker torn between brand loyalty as both RAW and SmackDown made him offers that are hard to refuse. Breakker would have the opportunity to seek advice from the grand Triple H for a second there, right until Paul Heyman cuts him off by surprise and leaves viewers with yet more speculations over what could possibly await him.
Adding more to the excitement, in an episode of WWE NXT to come, Breakker, alongside Baron Corbin, will lock horns with Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo & Tony D'Angelo for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
