Matt Riddle left WWE last year amidst a series of off-ring dramas that had cast doubt on his future with the company. His post-WWE journey has been nothing less than a fairytale, and on this journey, to lay his hands on his first championship since his exit from the global wrestling giant would be nothing less than a landmark.

Riddle is a very charismatic wrestler who from the beginning of this year had made a name for him with his unique kind of charisma and fighting skills around several wrestling promotions. The road with Major League Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling took him through the various outfits of wrestling with aplomb and flair, showcasing his charm and diversity across different genres of wrestling.

He bested Atrocity Krule in high-stakes matchup that saw him land the esteemed title of 1 World Champion. The victory represented a great milestone in the career of Riddle, as his first championship since his exit from WWE.

Riddle Crowned Combat King

Combat 1 Wrestling celebrated this milestone on their Instagram, exuberantly announcing Riddle as their new champion. The post had been: "Ladies and Gentlemen, you may know him as 'The King of Bro's,' but now he is known as 'The King of Combat.'

Your NEW 1 World Champion: Matt Riddle! " The announcement set the wrestling universe on fire, once again iterating the impact that Riddle has made in the wrestling world. To add more vigor to it, Riddle will defend his title against former WWE star Austin Aries.

The awaited competition is on April 11 at The Rollerama Zap Zone of Brighton at the WrestleRama: Superfight. Fans are highly awaiting this fight, for tickets are already on sale, promising an electric event. Riddle does not end there.

He's now all set for another big challenge in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He's now looking forward to fighting Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NJPW World Television Championship at the New Beginning in Sapporo show on February 23.
