Tony Khan, the visionary President of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), is setting the stage for an exhilarating 2024, echoing the success of the company's landmark year in 2021. Under his guidance, AEW has been delivering consistently engaging television content, showcasing early contenders for match of the year and hinting at exciting new talent acquisitions on the horizon.

Central to AEW's annual calendar is the much-anticipated Forbidden Door event, a collaboration with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) that has quickly become a highlight for wrestling aficionados. This year, Khan is looking to elevate the event even further by incorporating talent from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).

In a recent conversation with "SportsGrid," Khan expressed his enthusiasm for CMLL's participation: "Absolutely, I am keen on having CMLL be a part of virtually everything we undertake. The partnership has already yielded fantastic results in its inaugural year, allowing us to pursue thrilling opportunities together."

NJPW's Key Role

Khan reassured fans that NJPW would continue to play a pivotal role in Forbidden Door 3, with notable stars such as Will Ospreay, Jay White, and possibly Kazuchika Okada expected to grace the AEW roster by the time of the event.

Additionally, he highlighted his eagerness to showcase NJPW's emerging talent in the upcoming year. "New Japan boasts an incredibly talented young roster at the moment, with [Hiroshi] Tanahashi exemplifying the ideal leadership for the organization.

Collaborating with both New Japan and CMLL has been a fantastic experience, and I am genuinely excited for what Forbidden Door 3 will bring," Khan remarked. Historically, CMLL wrestlers have been absent from Forbidden Door events due to AEW's affiliation with AAA, despite CMLL's longstanding relationship with NJPW.

This summer, however, the landscape is poised to change as the Forbidden Door is set to open for its third iteration, potentially featuring CMLL talent for the first time, marking a new chapter in AEW's collaborative endeavors.
