In a revealing discussion on the financial dynamics of WWE's Royal Rumble, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase shared insights into the payment structure for wrestlers participating in one of the industry's most anticipated events.

On his podcast, "Everybody’s Got A Pod," DiBiase offered a candid look at the disparities in compensation between those exclusively competing in the Royal Rumble match and those who pull double duty, also appearing in additional matches on the same night.

DiBiase, known for his iconic "Million Dollar Man" persona, defended the practice of offering higher payouts to performers who showcase their talents in more than just the Royal Rumble match. He argued that taking part in multiple segments of the event not only demands greater physical exertion but also imposes a heavier mental toll on the athletes.

"Well, yeah. I mean, everybody gets paid for the Rumble, and everybody that is in the Rumble and also has a match, they should get a little more," DiBiase asserted, acknowledging the extra effort required from those wrestlers.

His comments highlight an understanding within the industry that wrestlers who engage in several bouts throughout the event face increased challenges. This recognition supports the practice of compensating these athletes more generously for their additional contributions to the spectacle's success.

Rockers: Diverging Paths

DiBiase also touched upon the personal journeys of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, two performers who rose to fame in the WWE as The Rockers before their careers diverged. He recounted their early days as notorious partiers within the wrestling circuit.

However, DiBiase noted a significant transformation in Michaels, who eventually embraced Christianity and matured both personally and professionally. In contrast, Jannetty, according to DiBiase, struggled to make a similar personal evolution.

This comparison between Michaels and Jannetty provided a deeper look into the challenges and growth opportunities wrestlers face beyond the ring. Through his podcast, DiBiase offers an intriguing glimpse into the complexities of wrestler compensation and personal development within the WWE, shedding light on the broader narratives that define the wrestling world.
