Kofi Kingston for a long time was known as one of the members of The New Day. He is one of the most important parts of the group. The New Day was at one time the most popular faction in the WWE, even though they were a comedy group.

However, The New Day members have won important titles as a group, and have also won important titles as solo wrestlers.

Kofi Kingston became the first African-born WWE Champion, about 5 years ago.

That was the most important win of his career. He received a major push by the WWE and he was at that time ‘over’ with the fans. He received tremendous support during the build up to his match. Kofi was born in Ghana.

He spoke about his victory on the ‘Battleground Podcast’. He put a lot of emphasis on being the first African-born WWE Champion, and what that victory meant for him. "For me to be the first African-born WWE Champion...

there's a lot of people that never thought that they would see an African-born champion on TV," Kingston said. "So seeing videos and hearing people's stories about them watching their kids watch that KofiMania moment and just see their eyes light up, it's so humbling to me because there's a lot of people who came before me that put a lot of work in for African Americans and people from different cultures and I happened to be at the right place at the right time with the right story." Kofi won a very competitive match against Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) at WrestleMania 35.

At that time, Daniel was one of the top wrestlers in the company. Kofi believes that he is fortunate to receive all of the attention that he did at that time, as he was fighting Daniel, who was loved by the fans even though he was a heel at that time.

He gave credit to the members of The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods), to his family and the WWE fans for supporting him throughout the build up. Kofi then gave a shout out to the wrestlers that paved the way for him. These include Ron Simmons, Mark Henry, and Booker T.

He is also looking forward to seeing stars such as Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, and Oba Femi progress in their careers.
