Current reigning AEW Women's World Champion, Toni Storm finally revealed the journey from WWE to AEW in a podcast titled "Going Ringside". Reflecting on her time from 2018 to late 2021 with the WWE, Storm shared how that one big decision of her life brought her straight to the WWE live event in December 2021, where she saw that dream end.

She thereafter signed with AEW in March 2022, soon becoming a centerpiece of the women's division in AEW. During the interview, Storm revealed reasons behind leaving WWE. "I was a WWE superstar, but there comes the point when I really had to explore new worlds," Storm said with a smile.

"Something deep down inside kept telling me my destiny lay elsewhere. It was such a confusing time, just a jumble of feelings and decisions.

Reflecting on WWE Challenges

Storm brought up a comment that she had made within the same interview, in which she mentioned the final years she spent with WWE had kind of "crushed" her passion for wrestling.

The 41-year-old admitted, "It was bumpy. In hindsight, it seems overwhelming, and I am still picking up those pieces; however, I'm really happy with where I am right now and the decisions that I have made." Storm thanked AEW profusely for the wrestling promotion and its president, Tony Khan, whom she said played a key role in her redirection.

"Thank goodness for AEW," Storm said. "I was at a place where I was just truly unhappy. If it wasn't for the opportunity to come to All Elite Wrestling, I don't know where I would be today. My heart truly belongs here." Recently at the "Double or Nothing" event, Storm finished defending her AEW Women's World Championship successfully against Serena Deeb.

It marked her first appearance since re-debuting by January '24, following a yearlong injury cush. Going under the moniker "The Professor," Deeb pulled all the stops to try and dethrone Storm but kept finding themselves in second place.

More exactly, Storm persevered with an avalanche piledriver before putting away her opponent with the Storm Zero. What is not a common career change in Storm's story is of fulfillment of one's real calling and pursuit of happiness within the four sides of the ring.

Her case is a reflection of what a good, fulfilling, and supportive professional environment does to athletes' careers and well-being.
