After weeks of New Japan Pro-Wrestling airing videos of a mystery man targeting Juice Robinson, Moxley was revealed as the culprit. AEW CEO Tony Khan stated that he will be able to take independent and international bookings during the summer before AEW's television deal starts in the fall.
Moxley made his New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut at the Best of the Super Juniors 26 Finals on June 5 where he defeated Robinson for the IWGP United States Championship. At Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall on June 9, after a victory over Shota Umino, Moxley declared himself an entrant for the 2019 G1 Climax.
Moxley made his debut for Northeast Wrestling (NEW) on June 14, defeating fellow AEW wrestler Darby Allin. The following night, he answered CazXL's open challenge, and would later defeat him in a match. In a recent interview, Moxley commented on WWE hiring Heyman and Bischoff as executive directors: "They definitely made some kind of move," Moxley explained.
"Paul Heyman is really smart it sounds like that is a great idea. I just hope Vince lets them do their ideas. It's not just 'I made him head of creative, but I'm telling him what to do type of thing. Eric Bischoff was behind the NWO, he also presided over some crappy WCW shows.
He is probably pretty motivated to make you forget that part of the resume. The more wrestling that is good, the more fans that there are and the better it is for everybody."
