Roman Reigns became the first ever Best WWE Moment Award winner at 2019 ESPN ESPYS Awards ceremony. He won the award for his “triumphant return to Monday Night RAW" after coming back from leukemia for the second time in his life.
Becky Lynch was the other nominee. She won the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Titles at WrestleMania 35 after beating Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair on tehs same night. Kofi Kingston and Ronda Rousey were also nominated. The WWE did not have an award category before on ESPYS.
It was under the Best Performance category. Reigns received the award even before the show began at a red carpet special. Triple H Congratulated him with Stephanie McMahon. Triple H praise Roman Reigns on Twitter: "@WWERomanReigns return to the ring was incredibly special for the entire @WWE Universe.
To have Roman back in the ring and Joe back healthy meant so much to us all and is absolutely deserving of the VERY FIRST #ESPYS Award for best #WWE moment!" Reigns also took to twitter to thank his supporters: "Coming back meant more than just returning to the ring.
It meant I was healthy enough to show my gratitude for those who sent their prayers, who continually thought about me, and that I was ready to raise awareness. Thank you for all those who voted, it is an honor”.
