Scott D'Amore, the ex-president of TNA, has resurfaced with an astonishing revelation that could bring back a slice of wrestling history. Rechristening it as Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, D'Amore announced he would start over Maple Leaf Wrestling and serve as its president. This followed his unexpected firing from TNA in February that left the promotion in turmoil but has since managed to regain some level of stability due to its partnership with WWE NXT.

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling will make a triumphant two-day return on October 19th and 20th called "Forged In Excellence" at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. The lineup boasts names like Josh Alexander, Gisele Shaw, Jake Something (all from Impact), KUSHIDA (formerly of NJPW), Raj Dhesi (once known as Jinder Mahal), and Trevor Lee (formerly Cameron Grimes) among others.

Reviving Wrestling Legends

“Over six decades, Maple Leaf Wrestling was synonymous with showcasing some of the best wrestlers on earth,” declared D’Amore.“The maple leaf squared circle saw icons like Lou Thesz, Bruno Sammartino, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant, and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Our goal is to resurrect that glorious history by bringing together current legends from WWE, New Japan, TNA, AEW, and beyond.”

Maple Leaf Wrestling was originally started in 1930 by Jack Corcoran, but it served as a key NWA outlet in Canada between 1948 and 1984. Afterward, it was sold off, becoming part of WWE’s expanding territory. Bringing back this iconic promotion wasn’t something D’Amore did overnight. He laid the foundation for this long before reviving through trademark application for “Maple Leaf Wrestling” which he quietly filed around May so as to tell that he is focused on bringing it back to its former glory.
