Drew McIntyre and CM Punk are stuck in a kind of loop since January 2024, when a shoulder injury from the Best in the World forced WWE’s creative department to freeze plans and find a solution to keep the rivalry alive until they could be seen in the ring.
The wait was over six months, until SummerSlam, when the two played their first official match, the Special Guest Referee Match that also involved Seth Rollins, but at Bash In Berlin they will face each other in a Strap Match.
The core of their rivalry found its embodiment in a bracelet that Drew McIntyre has stolen from CM Punk on which stand out the name of his wife AJ Lee and dog Larry: that small object has greatly intensified the heat between them. But why did Drew McIntyre, knowing how much Punk is connected to that object, not yet destroy it? We are about to find out!
What will Drew McIntyre do?
Now for weeks everything revolves around that little object a few cents but with great emotional value for CM Punk: it passed from its rightful owner to Drew McIntyre, then again to CM Punk, then to Seth Rollins and then again to the Scot who, in a chat with Haley Miller of Comic Book, which was covered by Ringside News, explained why he has not destroyed it yet.
"It comes with me everywhere. What am I going to do with it? I don’t know. I like the idea of breaking it, but it’s too easy. It’s hilarious to see all the emotional pain and stress that CM Punk is getting from this thing being just garbage on me. When I have forced Punk to retire I will have to undergo surgery on my arm for all five that I will give him out of the way. At that point, I will probably frame the bracelet in a glass frame".
The feud between the two seems not yet to be over, although it is still to see the result of Bash in Berlin that, if Drew McIntyre wins, could put an end to it. What is certain is that it has seen so much innovation on screen. For example, in the episode of Raw on August 26, CM Punk connected live while, from under the ring, he waited for the right moment to slip out and attack Drew McIntyre. Drew McIntyre himself showed coordinates on the jacket he was wearing: 55.458694, -4.629194. Someone wanted to see what they corresponded to, finding that they refer to a pub hotel called Ayrshire & Galloway. Where is the curiosity? In the fact that the real surname of Drew McIntyre is precisely Galloway, which does not exclude that one of the owners of this place may be a relative.
