Ronda Rousey path to WWE can be traced much earlier than her walk in to the Royal Rumble in 2018 where she stole the thunder from Asuka. A few days ago, during the episode of “Insight” the former Champion of cages, explained how she managed to achieve her WWE ambition, pointing out that the both of them have been eyeing each other for quite a while.

Later in the conversation, Rousey recollected the WWE days when she first met their executive enthusiasts, including Paul “Triple H” Levesque. These meetings were surprisingly early in her career and after she had been an active Fighter under the UFC banner. To many in WWE, McMahon to be exact, it was just called the ‘Ronda Rousey Project’ without getting anyone all too excited – yet! There was no need for either side to get out of their doctrine and order. This kind of makes Rousey take the alternate route.

“No one wanted to be too pushy about it,” Rousey said. “I was like, ‘I have this Bachelorette party, and my friends are in Florida, and I have to go there. So, I thought, why don’t I just go to the PC and train with my friends for a week, it’ll be fun for all of us. They are into pro wrestling now, and it would be really fun for all of us.’ So I think that’s what I did. It was my own try-out pretty much, and boy did we have fun. We were just going about and saying that we were not chasing each other; I mean we were chasing each other, and the rest is history.”

Rousey on McMahon Doubt

Rousey could not wait to tell her fans that she was joining WWE, but the first person to look apprehensive was Vince McMahon. According to the reports, he did not believe that she could bring anything else apart from her UFC background. It wasn’t until the emergence of the women’s division in the company, which had events such as the all-women Evolution Pay-Per-View, that McMahon came round to the idea of having her in the company.
