Throughout the history of WWE there have been many topical moments that have written the history of the federation and the discipline, and they are connected to as many key figures of the sport entertainment... In good and evil.

One figure stands out when it comes to wrestling, that of Vince McMahon. A decades-long career built between truths and legends that have distinguished - and continue to distinguish - his person, some have been confirmed while others have left the time they found, but as far as the binomial Vince-Wrestling is inseparable, and we will have the opportunity to deepen this aspect in a few days thanks to the docuserie on Netflix that sees him as the protagonist.

Over the years, WWE has faced many changes, and one of them was King of the Ring. Initially it was a pay-per-view and it was from 1993 to 2002, but at some point Vince decided to say enough and relegate it to weekly shows. Many years later, someone wanted to explain why.

Vince McMahon had strong ideas

Bruce Prichard spoke about it in his podcast, "Something to Wrestle," and Ringside News wrote: Vince didn’t like the King of the Ring at all and his interest in the concept of tournament has been dwindling from year to year.

"The King of the Ring is a mess," Prichard reported, imitating Vince McMahon’s voice and then jumping into explanation. "One day we were sitting there and Vince asked us why we were thinking about King of the Ring, since we did it every year and it sucked. He wanted to get away from the concept of tournament, he was sick of it, and suddenly decided that we would never do the King of the Ring again, and we had to stop thinking about it. We had to get out of the box, go ahead and think about something else".

A few years later the tournament was revived in weekly shows, and more recently it has returned to be a premium live event in full association with the Queen of the Ring.
