This week, during the final segment of NXT on WWE Network, media interactions were held with current champion Roxanne Perez and challenger Giulia prior to their title bout. However, the one who shocked everyone, including Giulia and even the commentators, was aesthetics, formerly CMLL women's champion Stephanie Vaquer, who has recently joined WWE.
After news and highlight, Vaquer was not interested in sidestepping things and issued a challenge to both women. Cardi in the titantron said ‘What’s the Plan when you go back after an NXT Women’s Championship match, and I am there on the opposite side waiting for you?’ It was an unexpected for the room and Allen’s energy changed in a different place. Both Perez and Giulia nearly jumped up from their seats and faced an image of Vaquer on the screen. Then Perez, with high confidence, lifted up her NXT Women’s Title, while Giulia herself, staring intently at the belt, appeared to have eyes only for the title.
Vaquer WWE Return
Earlier in the year 2023, she became one of the newest wrestlers in WWE. In July she participated in a live event held in Mexico City where she squared off against Isla Dawn who once held the Women’s Tag Team Championship. This debut, came a few days after WWE made the announcement of signing her. Since that time, however, Vaquer was not seen in the ring with some reports claiming that she was on wait for her USA work visa. The unannounced return of Vaquer to ‘NXT’ this week shows that issue has been sorted and she has been eager to compete in the US.
As there has been a fair amount of speculations about the next defense of Cinderella, Perez must have learned that Giulia is the number one contender regardless. Among those competitors will be someone who is postponed to Patricia as she is Giulia, a holder of former NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship and will challenge Perez next week. And that high-tensioned bout will happen on the very first episode of NXT on the CW Network, making the showdown even more special.
