From the outset, Cody Rhodes' "American Nightmare" persona has never gone unnoticed, and of concern to most fans is why, even in his babyface status, the Undisputed WWE Champion has heel-like tendencies. This brings back the memory of him, who has been a subject of abuse in most of, if not all, of his last appearances in AEW; Rhodes Terence has created storms among the fans. Some attribute this to the fact that even back then, he could have been playing a calculated subtle heel considering his outfit with the features of the Homelander from The Boys.
While pairing with Roman Reigns in WWE, Bully Ray has also observed that it was only a matter of time before he started displaying tilt characteristics. According to the vet, there is an uncanny resemblance to an inverse of Cody’s former heel persona and features since when he was in the ROH business on “Busted Open Radio.” Bully stated, “What Cody said to Roman had a heel tone to it.” He cast himself in Rhodes’ promo, presenting the idea that Cody attempted to humiliate Reigns, suggesting that Roman’s mic ability is stagnant. “Roman retains that same level of mongoloid at every point.” He continued with various quotes from the promo that was super fan inducing and had the two when Reigns teased he would get his belt back.
Cody Heel Traits
Bully went further by adding, “If Rhodes were to turn tilt on Roman Reigns tomorrow, it is here that it would click immediately.” To this, he also used examples of Cody Rhodes threatening Reigns, and added Liv Morgan’s mic work against Rhea Ripley and Drew McIntyre’s comments. “Drew McIntyre is a heel. Liv Morgan is a heel. Cody is using the same vocabulary as these tilts; that’s what heels say,” Bully stated.
For these comments, Bully Ray does not believe that it is right for Rhodes to pull a turncoat today. The issue of Rhode's divide with young fans has raised troubles already. Bully drew a parallel with the clashing personalities of WWE indelible kings John Cena and superman Hulk Hogan and excised a question very judiciously, “Would Hulk Hogan or John Cena talk to Roman Reigns in the way Cody did?”’
