Edge and Roman Reigns are just a couple of the legends and current stars of today associated with the spear. That list now includes former WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker. Breakker recently gave "WWE Raw" a little taste of his version of the move as not just new champion Jey Uso felt the spear, but The New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods felt a barrage of strong spears that sent them to the mat. But where a spear is a common move in wrestling, very few actually figure out how to take one safely.

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, host of "Busted Open Radio," offered an opinion on Breakker's spear-the difficulty, he said, is in taking the move correctly, especially on the floor of the arena outside the ring. According to Bully Ray, while wrestlers train their bodies to absorb impact in the "right way," the spear-especially Breakker's version presents some unique challenges in that regard.

"That spear, you know it's coming. You see it coming," Bully Ray said. "You have time to think about it. But to stay there and take the spear on the floor the same way you would take it in the ring, it's almost impossible. Go back and watch anyone who has taken a spear from Bron Breakker on the floor. None of them take it real pretty."

"Ugly Bump" Impact

Bully Ray added the challenge is unlike when wrestlers would go to the floor, as normally they would relax on to the floor. The result, he said, is an "ugly bump," as the body tends to tense up right before impact, making the landing much rougher.

You know it's going to hit you, but you also know the fall on the concrete is going to be worse," Bully Ray added. The more Breakker asserts himself, the more spears that are bound to come from him, especially after his recent loss of the Intercontinental Championship to Jey Uso.
