The WWE Universe observed the shocking dissolution of Awesome Truth, former WWE World Tag Team Champions. In late September, after The Miz appeared to abandon R-Truth in the midst of a challenging fight with The Authors of Pain, the pair fell apart amid much controversy. The controversy resulted in numerous negative reactions from the audience, who saw him as a backstabber. However, The Miz sees such developments in a different light.

While talking on "The Rich Eisen Show," he stated that he has been unfairly portrayed in this case. “I think of myself as a good guy. I’ve done everything right. R-Truth has been the heel this whole time in my opinion,” he was quoted as saying.

In The Miz's perspective, the situation called for drastic action as they needed to expose the changes in their relationship. “The guy has put me through so much and then sometimes you just need to turn on someone to make them see the error of their ways. I think I’ve been babyface this entire time,” he said further.

Miz Defends Actions

During the interview, he again spoke about his respectful demeanor, even praising host Rich Eisen’s team, the NY Jets. He talked about some of the behind-the-clashes. “I literally spoke to him and told him, ‘Please do this [stop booking us in title matches],’” Miz recalled. Championship titles are important, but he also noted that they were put in unnecessary title defenses, which cheapened the titles.

Compounding their issues, The Miz pointed to a phase during the summer when Truth was away recovering from an injury. At that point, he tried to defend and seek advancement for his partner, but The Miz felt that his efforts were in vain. “I stabbed him in the back? I don’t think so,” he argued.

To him, this portrayal of himself as the villain in their storyline is ludicrous, and his supporters should welcome his stance. “I’m the good guy. I should be cheered and applauded, and people should be buying my t-shirts,” he said. With that, he challenged the spectators to change their mindset about whose side they should take in their fractured tale.
