The growth of the women's division has been truly impressive over the last decade. The credit is certainly in WWE which has changed its approach compared to the previous era, but it is also due to some athletes who have made the history of this business thanks to their immense talent and their innate charisma.

Without champions like Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Sasha Banks (who now performs in AEW as Mercedes Moné) – the so-called '4 Horsewomen', women would hardly have had the chances they have today in the most important wrestling federation in the world.

The impact of those four superstars on this business was never fully understood, and it is safe to assume that they deserved more credit for the work they did in those years. Vince McMahon struggled to believe in their potential and didn't take full advantage of that wave that could have made WWE even better.

'The Man' has been one of the symbols of the company in the modern era and his long absence from the ring has damaged WWE a lot in recent times. The same goes for Charlotte, who suffered a bad injury and is undergoing the hard rehabilitation process to return to top shape in the first part of 2025.

Becky Lynch on the 4 Horsewomen

Speaking with media on the latest edition of the ‘Vulture Festival’, Becky opened up on the ‘4 Horsewomen’: “It was always something bubbling under the surface, one of those ‘break in case of emergency’ ideas. But sometimes, when you leave something for too long, it just fades.

I don’t think Vince ever really got it. He didn’t understand. He’d say, ‘What is this Four Horsewomen thing? They’ve never even had a match together.’”

Lynch also talked about Vince McMahon: “I had my experiences with Vince. They were all, for the most part — apart from him yelling at me at one point after WrestleMania — very good. He treated me very well and with a lot of respect. I know that that is not the experience everybody had,” Becky Lynch pointed out. “But also, there’s so much that you have going on in the world of wrestling. It’s hard to differentiate the person, all the things that they’ve done that we’re aware of, and who you’re interacting with at that moment. I suppose we’re all just interacting in the best way that we can in the moment, and then judging each other on the experiences that we have with them.”

New details on The Man's return

Fans and insiders have long wondered what the future will be for the Irish champion, who has taken a long break from wrestling to regenerate and take care of her family.

According to the latest rumors, Lynch is set to return to WWE in the near future. Her return could be one of the biggest surprises of 2025, and the location is still unclear. Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 41 - which will take place in Las Vegas on April 19 and 20, 2025 - would be the ideal scenarios to electrify the WWE Universe with the return of Becky, but Triple H does not seem to have made a decision on it yet.

There is no doubt that 'The Man' has had a very profound impact on this business and that her career is a source of inspiration for many of her colleagues.

During her amazing WWE journey, she has won several titles like the Raw Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Becky is a four-time WWE Women’s champion and her reign as Raw Women’s champion lasted almost 400 days (before he had to leave WWE in May 2020 for the birth of Roux). Lynch has created a beautiful family with Seth Rollins and the two champions are very happy together.

During a long interview with ‘Inside The Ropes’, current WWE Women’s champion Liv Morgan – who is experiencing the best moment of her career – paid tribute to Becky Lynch: “I think if Becky never comes back, I definitely think she is 100% a Hall of Famer. She has become a martyr for women’s wrestling and performance all around. She can do it all. She can deliver in the ring, she can deliver on the microphone. The crowd is compelled by her when she’s out there, not to mention what she stands for in women’s wrestling.”

She also added: ”Her goal, I think, was to really evolve it and maximize women’s wrestling and really make women’s wrestling feel just as special and important as the men’s wrestling, and she did it all while being a fantastic brand-new mummy. But with all that, she’s still not as great as me.”
