Fans were eagerly awaiting Alexa Bliss' in-ring return. WWE used the first PLE of the new year – the 2025 Royal Rumble – to propitiate the return of Alexa, who received a very special welcome from the crowd in Indianapolis.
Bliss entered the ring as number 21 in the women's royal brawl, ending an absence of over a year that had seriously worried the WWE Universe. She had always been very cryptic in this period of time and the frequent speculations about her status had not helped to clarify, but now the situation should be defined.
According to reports from 'Ringside News', Alexa is set to return to WWE full-time and would have signed a new deal with WWE shortly before the Royal Rumble. According to the latest rumors, Bliss would have taken Shotzi's place in the royal brawl and this decision of the company would have generated some controversy backstage.
Update on Alexa Bliss' future
In the coming weeks, she is expected to appear on Monday Night Raw and it cannot be ruled out that a feud with current world champion Rhea Ripley could start very soon.
However, some fans have pointed out that it was Liv Morgan who eliminated Bliss in the royal brawl, which is why a rivalry between them would not be so surprising.
On the latest edition of ‘Wrestling Observer Radio’, top analyst Dave Meltzer discussed Bliss’ current status: "I am told that the Bliss thing was a late negotiation.
I don't believe it, because it's pro wrestling. My belief is that they were pulling a swerve...the gist on Alexa Bliss was her contract, because of the freezing and time off and everything, it was not up. But it was about to be up. And so they didn't want to debut her and then have the contract up, cause then she'd kind of have them under a barrel.
Not necessarily under a barrel, but it's kind of awkward to start someone, put them on TV, and then if you don't come to terms and you don't have a new contract, they disappear.”
