Ric Flair is undoubtedly one of the most legendary performers of all time, and his impact on this business has allowed WWE to become the company it is today. 'The Nature Boy' was not only extraordinarily talented, but his ability to interact with fans and create memorable storylines secured his place in wrestling history.
Like many other legends of his era, Ric struggled to accept the moment of retirement, and starting a new chapter in his life was a tough challenge for him. Despite having numerous health problems in recent years and no longer young, Flair even returned to perform in the ring in 2022 alongside his former son-in-law Andrade El Idolo.
Many of his friends didn't want him to play that match because of his poor condition, but the 16-time world champion didn't want to listen to anyone – not even his daughter Charlotte.
Flair managed to complete the match, but had a small heart attack and risked his life that day. Despite the scare, he has not officially retired yet and has opened up the possibility of returning to compete in the ring in the near future.
Vince Russo speaks about Ric Flair
The relationship between Ric and WWE has cracked a bit for a number of reasons in recent years, although the Stamford federation continues to celebrate him as one of the best exponents of its history.
In addition, his daughter Charlotte is one of the symbolic faces of the company and will be among the protagonists of WrestleMania 41 in a month.
On the latest edition of the podcast 'The Wrestling Outlaws', former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo confessed that he is worried about Ric's health: “Bro, I love Flair, I’m a freaking mark for Flair. I love Flair. I worry about him. I don’t think the dude should wrestle again. I mean, I’m not going to apologize for that.
I don’t want the guy to kill himself in a wrestling ring. I’m not going to say sorry for that."
