​The Honky Tonk Man received a new multi-year Legends contract from WWE which extends his third successive contract with the organization. Through this 15-year nostalgia contract the WWE secures ongoing popularity for his famous persona among global wrestling fans.

Sports entertainer Roy Wayne Farris who competed under his identity gained renown through his Elvis personality along with a 454-day championship victory as Intercontinental Champion in the 1980s wrestling world.

His exciting stage presence along with his flamboyant delivery made a lasting impact on the wrestling industry. ​

A Legacy That Continues to Entertain

He issued a statement about his new agreement which highlighted his WWE experience of influencing global growth of wrestling phenomenon.

Since the beginning of our connection with WWE both parties have fostered a beneficial partnership that now leads to my deep appreciation of their ongoing dedication to secure longevity of The Honky Man character and its associated intellectual assets.

WrestleMania weekend visitors will get to meet the Honky Tonk Man during Las Vegas events from April 16 to 20 at WrestleCon while he signs autographs for WWE Universe members. ​

He can still make an impact through participation in WWE 2K video games from WWE 2K24 to WWE 2K25 thus giving modern fans the opportunity to meet his signature persona. ​

Although Gunther took the record for longest Intercontinental Championship reign in September 2023 people remember The Honky Man as one of the foundational characters of professional sports entertainment. Through the combination of his performing skills and athletic abilities The Tonk Man established a model which drives contemporary performers to this day. 

The WWE continues to honor its legends and The Tonk Man endures as a memorial to the everlasting storytelling impact in professional wrestling.
