It wasn't easy to convince John Cena that heeling in the last year of his career was a good idea, but it was the only way to surprise WWE Universe ahead of WrestleMania 41. After being the company's babyface par excellence for 20 years, the leader of the 'Cenation' accepted this new and fascinating challenge before facing Cody Rhodes in the biggest event of all.
After being sensationally eliminated by Jey Uso in the last segment of the Royal Rumble match in early February, the legend from Boston absolutely wanted to redeem himself and had triumphed in the Elimination Chamber match in Toronto at the beginning of March. In the last part of the PLE, he had brutally attacked 'The American Nightmare' who had just shaken his hand and sanctioned a new partnership with The Rock.
Johnson has not appeared in WWE since that day and everyone is wondering if he will also have an actual role at the 'Showcase of the Immortals', scheduled in Las Vegas this weekend. Cena – on the other hand – was present during some stages of the federation's European tour, in which he provoked the crowd and had new confrontations with the current world champion.
Triple H on John Cena's heel turn
A few days ago, it was announced that the 16-time world champion will be among the protagonists of the last episode of SmackDown before Mania 41.
In a long interview with 'High Performance', Triple H revealed some very interesting details about his conversation to turn him into a heel: “I went to John and said, ‘What if we pulled the lever that no one wanted to pull? What if we turn heel?’ To me, it felt like if you never do it, it’s just always dangling there. So now we get to write for this guy who’s been the ultimate good guy for over 20 years, and we get to turn him bad. What does that look like?”
As everyone knows, the match between John and Cody will be the main event of WrestleMania 41 'Night 2'.
