As everyone knows, Rey Mysterio had to miss the 2025 edition of WrestleMania due to a serious adductor injury he suffered just before the most prestigious event of the season. Mania 41 could have been his last participation in the 'Showcase of the Immortals', but the former world champion had to surrender to the pain and diagnosis of the doctors.
The masked luchador – who has made the history of this business by becoming an icon in every corner of the planet – also had to undergo delicate surgery this week and has recently returned to California to begin a long recovery process.
According to the latest rumors, the surgery was performed without problems and there would have been no complications. Rey had felt pain during the March 29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but initially thought it was nothing serious before undergoing all the necessary tests.
New details on Rey Mysterio's surgery
This is not the first time Mysterio has had to undergo surgery during his glorious career, having had serious shoulder and knee injuries in the past. He is aware that the end of his career is approaching, but he absolutely does not want to give up and is convinced that he can make one last huge run in WWE if Triple H and the management allows him.
For the moment, no date has been speculated for his return to the ring. When you consider that Rey is almost 50 years old and his injury is not trivial, it is likely that it will take several months before we see him in action again (maybe in the last part of the 2025 season).
In addition to being a three-time world champion, Mysterio was also the 14th wrestler in WWE history to complete the Grand Slam and the 21st to complete the Triple Crown.
However, his legacy is much bigger than the titles he has won having been the idol of millions of people around the world. In the latter part of his career, he also had the chance to work alongside his son Dominik.
