WWE superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin is venturing into another plane now – and this time, as the host of the remake of the legendary competition series, “American Gladiators”, produced by Amazon Prime Video.
Now, this announcement made on 12th May in the year 2025 is a very crucial step in the career of the 44-years-old entertainer.
From his social media, The Miz was sharing his excitement by saying “I’m thrilled to announce I’m the new host of AMERICAN GLADIATORS! “ The 10-year-old me is screaming." Adding to it, he said, “Huge thanks to MGM & Amazon Prime Video for trusting me with this iconic legacy”. We’re tributing the original and fuelling a new generation.”
The old “American Gladiators” (from 1989 to 1996) hooked up the viewers with its adrenalin-fueled challenges and bigger-than-life Gladiators.
The future reboot is meant to combine nostalgia and contemporary style – the old-school “Gauntlet ”, “Hang tough”, and “Eliminator” are maintained, while there are new events with the aim to test the extent of the strength and agility.
The show itself will feature a wide variety of professional bodybuilders,former division one athletes, cross fit winners, and top of the line personal fitness trainers from around the world.
New Energy for a Timeless Classic
MGM Alternative, Evolution Media, and Big Fish Entertainment general manager Barry Poznick said that he was excited about the involvement of The Miz, and he said, “He’s the perfect host for the new era of this iconic franchise”.
He stressed on the fact that this reboot was more than a mere comeback. it is a cultural resurgence which will appeal both to its old clientele and its new.
The reboot is one of the many revivals of the “Gladiators” franchise that has been enjoying success in the UK and other countries. Amazon Prime Video intends to broadcast the new series all over the world in more than 240 countries and territories.
Also, the platform has implemented 24/7 “Gladiators” FAST channel with more than 200 original episodes from the 90s – to let the fans remember the drama of the old series.
