WWE Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has batted retirement rumors in the air, putting the record straight to his fans. He is still an active WWE superstar even though a fake post on a parody account on X (formerly Twitter) announced his retirement.

His absence since being speared by Bron Breakker on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 in April 2025 had fans speculating, however he is still under contract with WWE, and is performing in a part-time role, much like Brock Lesnar in his later years.

The present contract of Reigns expires at WrestleMania 42 in April 2026. He announced in an interview with Vanity Fair that after his contract was over, he would be wrestling "another year or two max" in order to move into a less physical form of entertainment. The transition is a possible indication that he may be making a transition into acting like his cousin Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The Road Ahead: SummerSlam and Beyond

Although WWE is yet to confirm when he will make his comeback, there are internal deliberations that he will appear greatly at SummerSlam, which is one of the biggest events in WWE.

He is also supposedly negotiating a part in the new live-action "Street Fighter" movie, which will no doubt please the cross-over fans even more.

Reigns has become a main character in WWE plot lines in spite of his limited ring time. He has a part-time routine which has resulted in decreased number of matches though he is still influential and popular. Fans are awaiting his come back more so with indication by Paul Heyman on WWE RAW that Reigns comeback is at hand.
