Randy Orton is once again in the light which was off at a certain period and everyone is talking. He has swept through in a dramatic four-way match to win in a flawless finish on SmackDown last Wednesday over LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes and Aleister Black and progress to the King of the Ring semi-finals.

It is a comeback following his tearful plus rematch defeat to John Cena at Backlash in May and subsequent walkout following RKOs to referees that followed.

Fans and insiders have been theorizing the future of Orton since back when he resurfaced in March at the Elimination Chamber by giving Kevin Owens a RKO.

On the backstage, he has just agreed to a multi-year contract extension that will have him under the WWE umbrella at least until 2029 further securing his position within the roster as vital brick between the product.

On the Verge of a Big Summer Turn

The fact that he won the tournament is more than a confidence builder, it is a signal of a title pursuit.

The King of the Ring winner normally gets a title bout at SummerSlam, and Orton seems to be in line to win another world title shot.

As he approaches a major feud with Sami Zayn next, his plot is pushing toward what may have been one of his last big runs before possible retirement in the near future.

This comeback is even more inspiring after Orton struggled in the physical aspect recently with an injury in his neck, which sidelined him in late 2024. WWE appears determined to work him sparingly so that it can preserve his health and mystique.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Creative is working on finishing up the comic with a closing symbolic story arc. It could be a title duel or an emotional curtain call but sooner or later it will be time to hang up his boots.

Wonder what is next on the list of this legend? Assuming that he defeats Sami Zayn in the semi-final this week, look out to see him as headliner of the Night of Champions card in Saudi Arabia on June 28.

After that, everyone turns their sight to SummerSlam, where he can win the fourth world championship and ensure a place in the Hall of Fame.
