The Deadman of WWE may soon be calling shots instead of donning his trademark hat and coat. According to The Times of India reports, WWE is all set to induct The Undertaker (Mark Calaway) in a prominent position behind the scenes.
He has not made much noise since his retirement from ring action but this latest development would make him perhaps a significant figure to influence storylines and also to mentor talented as well as perhaps influence creative side of WWE.
The timing is not stupid. Since secret heart operations after WrestleMania in April, where tests revealed Calaway had atrial fibrillation and a low heart ejection fraction considered extremely dangerous, the wrestler has turned to a different path.
He has expressed that he is willing to take on roles, at least in a manner that will not overburden his physical condition.
New Mentor, New Inspiration
Other than speculated backstage tasks, Calaway has starred in WWE's A&E reality show LFG: Legends & Future Greats.
The Undertaker is a no-nonsense, strict coach who takes candidates through a strenuous WWE Performance Center course of studies along with fellow legends, Booker T and Bubba Ray Dudley. This was not what is called filler- WWE actually declared him first ever and also gave him title as LFG Champion of effective mentoring even though he had not been in the ring at all to secure this award too. This award brings out his increased influence behind camera.
Wrestling legend Bubba Ray Dudley has also commended Taker on show saying that he was able to draw out a more natural/Off-character side of Calaway which the fans will never get a chance to see. This transformation from omen symbol to mentor-in-chief appears to reverberate in the background as his leadership is already being experienced there as well.
