Big E has been open in recent weeks about life outside of the ring. He is yet to be medically approved to play since he sustained a neck injury in March of 2022, which resulted in the breaking of both his C1 and C6 vertebrae.

Nevertheless, he has no chances to be erased from WWE coverage, as he still appears on the pre- and post-show panels during the Premium Live Events.

Big E recently looked back at his surprise broadcasting career last month. He revealed that he never had an idea of transitioning into commentary, but took the challenge as an opportunity. I never perfectly had plans of becoming a broadcaster they got in touch with me last year, he added. He is now happy in the new job and will be happy to work there as long as it proves fun.

His energy emphasizes that, despite the slim chance of in-ring work, he has attained a different and satisfying role.

Embracing a New Chapter

Physically, Big E has repeated that he feels fine, no pain, headaches or muscle loss, all bones have knitted together.

He was even warned by doctors to stop wrestling but he has accepted the fact that it may be the end of his days in the squared circle. He repeated the same in December 2024 by saying that he was at peace regardless of never wrestling again.

Contractually he was due to renew his five-year WWE contract, signed in 2019 with his fellow New Day teammates, at the end of 2024. But Fightful stated no injury extension was added, and it is unclear whether he has signed a new contract. Nevertheless, his regular appearances indicate that there is probably an agreement.

In the meantime there is still the New Day saga. On Raw, Big E came out one more time in the ten of anniversary skit, only to be ejected by Kofi and Xavier firmly pushing his new course as an indie WWE player and advancing their heel storyline.

This turn emphasized WWE's plan to retain all three in the spotlight Big E out of camera and the other two in the ring.
