Most WWE legends – when it came time for their retirement – staged a final match through which they waved goodbye to the crowd before starting a new chapter in their lives. John Cena – on the other hand – has implemented a very different strategy and has shown for the umpteenth time all his dedication to this business, making himself the protagonist of a very long farewell tour in which he is making continuous appearances.
The leader of the 'Cenation' – who will leave professional wrestling at the end of this year – has already participated in many shows in the first half of the season and is set to continue in this way in the coming months.
Some thought the legend from Boston would take a break after winning his 17th world title at WrestleMania 41, but he did compete in Backlash, Saturday Night's Main Event and Money in the Bank earlier this month.
In a recent interview, the current world champion admitted that his body no longer responds to stress as in the past but added that he intends to go beyond his own limits. As everyone knows, John will face CM Punk in the company's next huge event – Night of Champions – which will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 28th.
Latest news on John Cena's schedule
In the meantime, another particularly relevant news has been announced. The leader of the 'Cenation' - who intends to remain world champion until the day he retires - will participate in the episode of Friday Night SmackDown on August 1st, the last before SummerSlam. This episode will be staged at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Prior to his retirement, Cena will make other appearances in Europe during the month of August – notably in Dublin, Lyon and Paris – and will also be among the stars of the huge show scheduled in Australia on October 11. An icon of John's caliber will certainly be missed by the entire business, but he realized that it was the right time to start a new chapter in his life and leave the most important stage to the young stars.
