Cody Rhodes' career has been an example for many young talents, because this athlete had the courage to take risks and make courageous choices to fully express his talent. When he made the decision to leave WWE for the first time, no one thought it was the best solution and he had been labeled as crazy, instead the experiences on the independent circuit and as a member of All Elite Wrestling - of which he was one of the founders along with Tony Khan and The Young Bucks - were fundamental stages for his rise.
After becoming one of the most popular performers on the planet, 'The American Nightmare' decided to make his return and the management immediately understood that he would have to invest in his potential in a different way than they had done a few years earlier.
Cody is a wrestling icon
The former AEW star immediately showed total dedication to this business and it didn't take long for him to become the symbolic face of the Stamford’s company, a status he acquired especially after dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL.
His reign as world champion was full of success and joy, until Cody was beaten by a legend like John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41 'Night 2' in Las Vegas this year. Rhodes' performance at the 'Showcase of the Immortals' was below expectations and he himself was quite disappointed, but he has no intention of giving up and aims to return as world champion by the end of this season.
Interviewed by Kay Adams during 'Fanatics Fest', 'The American Nightmare' hinted that his character could have a radical twist soon: “The being a good guy aspect of it—I don’t get tired of it because I get to have all of those moments. I do think we’re probably at the tail end of it though.
Because there’s only so much someone can like you. I’d like to do it until the end of my career, but at some point it’s like, ‘Alright, all we do is cheer for him.’ Eventually, fans want to see someone else. I get that. And that’s when you have to change as a character.”
