WWE will take the lid off of its fast-paced world with the release of the upcoming Netflix docuseries, WWE: Unreal, coming July 29. The series is a five-part show that allowed followers unprecedented access to the inner happenings in the world of wrestling entertainment giant, exploring how the show is created, and how the gamesmanship occurs backstage.
This is a first of its kind as viewers will be given an opportunity to step into the WWE writers' room, and reveal the painstaking planning and storytelling that drives the drama in the ring. The series entails open conversation with the leading superstars such as John Cena, Rhea Ripley, and Cody Rhodes promoting their stories demonstrating their tribulations and victories not just on the stage.
Behind the Curtain: The Real WWE
WWE Unreal is one of the many partnerships between WWE and Netflix, with this one commencing with Monday Night Raw streaming earlier this year. This alliance is expected to allow fans to gain more insight about the world of wrestling beyond the scripted competitions and show them the true story of participants and contributors thereof.
A team of executives that includes Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, and Ross Ketover as executive producers on the series has a vast amount of experience with telling sports stories. Having worked with All or Nothing, the individual behind the directing of the docuseries, Chris Weaver, is bound to be successful in capturing the attention of the audience with an interest in behind-the-scenes related sports documentaries.
As much as it is expected there are no positive responses that have been received. Austin, who is a WWE legend, has voiced concerns over the series, arguing that revealing what goes on behind the scenes may water down the mysticism that has always been an aspect of the charm of wrestling.
However, WWE: Unreal will present an interesting insight into the effort and intricacy of one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world. Whether you are a life long wrestling fan or are new to the spectacle of wrestling, this series is going to prove to be an interesting and insightful experience.
