WWE has lost interest in Britt Baker, at least according to rumors and there are a couple of reasons that fans may not expect. AEW insider websites, such as BodySlam.net, have reported that although Baker, former AEW Women's World Champion, is considering leaving All Elite Wrestling, WWE had not been interested in pursuing her.

She is still contracted and has not wrestled since November 2024 and her name has not been raised internally at WWE in the NXT calling process. The choice, apparently, is more practical than uninteresting.

The first one is her contract status, WWE might not want to pursue a talent that is not even guaranteed to become available. It is reported that WWE officials have not mentioned Baker during meetings as a free agent prospect. There is no indication of the release date or even availability of the character, so it seems that Triple H and the recruitment team are choosing to wait her out.

Backstage buzz and timing are key

Timing is another most important factor. It is said that AEW has Britt under contract until after the major events, like Evolution II and any WWE announcements in her hometown, Pittsburgh. Baker would not even have been on the table to be re-negotiated until those dates had passed. The reason WWE is not enamored with her qualifications is not because Baker does not have a good resume or name recognition but the backstage wheels of contract timing and logistics seem to be holding things up.

In addition to the practical concerns, backstage gossip suggests some other caution. Even some insiders have noted that Baker, who is now 34, has had serious injuries in the past, including past strokes, and she has been spotty in the ring over the past two years. With a more youth-centered women's scene, WWE may not want to spend resources on those who have a higher chance of being injured and are less likely to appear.

Meanwhile, AEW sources continue to dispute Baker’s departure narrative. Fightful Select reports that her team insists she hasn’t requested a release and remains under contract through at least 2026, possibly 2027 if injury extensions apply. As of today, it appears Britt is still an AEW talent, WWE hasn’t made a formal move, and this tug-of-war remains unresolved.
