CM Punk has toned down the edgier sides of his character since making his sensational WWE comeback a couple of years ago and the second half of his career is progressing in the best possible way, considering that he is still a role model both in and out of the ring.
The former world champion realized that he had to change some things if he wanted to be successful in this business again and his long conversations with Triple H before his return made the difference, because both had the right maturity to compromise after the quarrels of the past.
The veteran from Chicago is no longer in his prime, but he is an athlete who still makes a huge impact when he makes a match or participates in a segment. The 'Second City Saint' participated in the main event of WrestleMania for the first time in 2025 and had the chance to compete with John Cena during his retirement tour, creating a spectacular match alongside him at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia late last month.
Although he failed to dethrone the leader of the 'Cenation', the former AEW star did not give up and received the chance to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam in early August.
CM Punk isn’t afraid
When CM Punk makes statements, it is never trivial and it is always pleasant to listen to him. In a long interview with 'SPORTbible', the former world champion revealed if a wrestler can legitimately lengthen his segment compared to the set time: “It’s one of the secret rules. As long as it’s really, really good, you can get away with it. Going 20 minutes over and you suck, that’s no good.”
He also added: “I don’t want to cut into anyone else’s segment and there’s a lot of times I have X amount of time for something and I don’t think I need all that time, I’ll just go out there and go short. I would rather go short than long. If Rhea [Ripley] is in the next segment, I can nudge her and be like, ‘Hey, you guys need two minutes? I can give you two minutes’.”
