John Cena isn’t waiting for the final bell to make waves outside the ring. With his retirement slated for December 2025, he’s already bagged a juicy new gig playing a self‑absorbed movie star in Netflix’s upcoming action‑comedy The Leading Man, co‑starring and produced by Kevin Hart. When his character discovers his co‑star is secretly an actual agent, he’s forced to swallow his pride, save the world and hopefully learn a thing or two about humility.

Even while juggling WWE’s farewell tour dates, Cena’s film career is picking up speed. He just wrapped Heads of State alongside Idris Elba, which dropped July 2 on Prime Video and clocked over 75 million viewers now ranked among Amazon MGM’s most-watched titles. And that’s not where it ends. He’s also attached to Coyote vs. Acme, Matchbox, and the Netflix flick Little Brother, giving him a stacked slate of post‑WWE releases.

Cena’s Post-WWE Project Slate

Cena’s Hollywood sprint is in full gear. He’s slated for major projects across streaming platforms comedy, action, and family fare. Netflix’s The Leading Man positions him front and center with Kevin Hart. Then there’s Coyote vs. Acme a legal comedy based on The New Yorker’s “Coyote vs. Acme” article, where Cena plays a lawyer for the Acme Corporation.

Matchbox, a lively action-adventure based on the toy line, sees him teaming with Jessica Biel and others, slated for fall 2026. Little Brother, another Netflix project, is currently filming in New Jersey.

He’s not just stacking roles. He’s on fire Heads of State proved that. Netflix, Amazon and Apple are buying into Cena’s comedic timing, star power, and action credibility. All while he wraps up what's likely the last year of his storied WWE run. It’s like watching a pro athlete hit a home run just as he crosses home plate.
