WWE might have just given away its next big move. For a short while, the company’s official site listed the return of a classic premium live event, and fans quickly noticed something even bigger it’s tied to a rumored Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena match. The post was pulled almost immediately, but the timing couldn’t have been more suspicious, especially with reports already pointing toward a September showdown.

Lesnar’s shock comeback at SummerSlam sparked plenty of buzz, and now multiple outlets are saying WWE wants his first match back to be against Cena during the legend’s farewell tour. The rumored date is Saturday, September 20, in Indianapolis, which also happens to be the same night AEW runs All Out in Toronto. That can’t be coincidence it looks like WWE wants a direct clash on the calendar.

A slip that set off alarms

FandomWire noted that WWE’s site briefly showed the old Over the Limit branding before it was scrubbed. Pair that with Sportskeeda linking the leak to a potential Lesnar vs. Cena showdown, and you’ve got a rumor mill in overdrive. Yahoo and CBS Sports also circled back to the SummerSlam moment that reignited their story, showing this isn’t just idle chatter.

The hints keep stacking up. Bleacher Report highlighted how Lesnar is advertised for back-to-back SmackDown episodes on September 12 and 19 the kind of scheduling WWE usually reserves for final build-up segments and contract signings. That’s the exact playbook they run when a major main event is on deck.

If it all comes together, this will be Lesnar’s first match since 2023 and one of Cena’s most emotional stops on his retirement run. Their rivalry has produced different flavors across the years: Lesnar’s arrival shock in 2012, the brutal squash in 2014, and the big-fight aura every time they’ve clashed. Bringing back a classic event banner would be the perfect stage for one last chapter.
