WWE seems to have finally put a marker down on Omos’s future. The Nigerian Giant has been floating in and out of view for the past year, but his surprise showing at AAA’s TripleManía XXXIII in Mexico made everyone sit up. He entered the Copa Bardahl battle royal, dominated the ring, and walked out with a victory.

Almost instantly, WWE pushed out fresh merch on their official shop a shirt branded with both WWE and AAA logos, selling him as an “AAA Superstar.” That alone tells you this isn’t a one-off cameo, but part of a bigger plan.

This isn’t just about another T-shirt. It signals how WWE wants to present Omos going forward. He’s no longer being treated like a weekly TV filler. Instead, he’s being positioned as a global attraction, someone who doesn’t show up every Monday or Friday but makes noise when it matters. Omos himself leaned into that idea in a recent interview, describing his role as a “special attraction” who’s ready to appear on the biggest stages whenever the call comes.

A different kind of spotlight

The company quietly re-upped his contract earlier this year. They wouldn’t have done that if he was destined to sit out. Pair that with WWE’s growing relationship with AAA, and his Mexico win feels like a test run a way to refresh his character outside the Raw and SmackDown grind. It gives him the chance to shine in front of new crowds, while WWE keeps control of his presentation.

Critics aren’t all convinced. Some veterans believe too much damage has already been done with his inconsistent booking, questioning whether fans will ever buy into him again as a major threat. But there’s also an argument that WWE is playing this exactly right. By limiting his appearances and planting him in international spotlights, they’re turning him into an event wrestler, not a background act.
