After ending his professional wrestling career, Shawn Michaels wasted no time and became a reference figure in the WWE backstage. Triple H – who became the new head of the creative team taking over from Vince McMahon – immediately understood that his friend HBK could help NXT's young talents grow thanks to his enormous experience in and out of the ring.
Many experts and insiders were skeptical about the former world champion's attitude behind the scenes, considering that Michaels had always been used to shining in the first person and he himself had repeatedly admitted that he had been too selfish at certain stages of his career.
However, Michaels has shown that he has matured in all respects and has done his job excellently in recent years, receiving applause from The Game and all those who have had the privilege of working with an icon of his caliber.
HBK underwent surgery
Although he stopped performing in the ring a long time ago, HBK is still struggling with injuries sustained when he was younger and recently had to undergo back surgery.
On the latest episode of his famous podcast, wrestling legend Kevin Nash revealed that Shawn had to remove bars that had been inserted into his back more than a decade ago and it was a fairly delicate surgery.
“What did he just… um, Shawn just got done? He got an operation because when he f**** his back up in that casket match, they put some rods and s*** in his back, and they had to take them out because they were all twisted” – Nash explained.
Kevin continued: “So Shawn just had that done, and I guess I haven’t had a chance to talk to him because I haven’t had a chance to talk to my f***** wife that lives with me. But he woke up from surgery and was in less pain. Shawn needs both his knees replaced on top of that.”*
Everyone's hope is that the former world champion recovers as soon as possible and can return to do his amazing job in WWE.
