Comeback questions continue to do the rounds around former pro-wrestler-turned-actor, Edge. The 46-year-old retired in 2011 after being unwilling to continue because of cervical and other related injuries. Recently, in an interview with Live on 4 Legs, Edge was yet again asked about a potential comeback, at the 2020 Royal Rumble.
The Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Famer laughed these speculations off firmly. “It's kind of funny, to be honest. All of these rumours that I've been to Pittsburgh and I've been cleared to wrestle and I've signed a new contract.
I have no idea where any of it came from. The last time I was in Pittsburgh I had my wrist fused in 2013. I don't know”. Reportedly, Dr. Joseph Maroon, who is WWE’s medical director is based out of Pittsburgh that has, in turn, led to these fuelled rumours.
Speaking further on the subject, Edge added, “I would go to Pittsburgh to see Pearl Jam for sure but I haven't been there and I haven't signed a contract. I think I would know. I'll get this tsunami of comments saying, 'You're coming back!
You signed a contract.' I really haven't”. This deluge of comments greeting Edge also has a basis on a rumour that was reportedly kicked-off in October 2019. According to a report on Wrestling, Inc., Edge was supposed to have entered into a new contract with the WWE after making thorough consideration of offers from both the promotion and its new rival, All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
