On February 16th, at NXT TakeOver: Portland, Rhea Ripley successfully defended the title against Bianca Belair; at the end of the match, she was hit in the back by Charlotte Flair, who confirmed their match for WrestleMania 36 and then crashed Belair on the steel stairs.
In the NXT episode of February 19th, a h*t interview from Rhea was sent after Charlotte Flair's attack on NXT TakeOver: Portland, saying she got what she wanted and that the queens will also suffer from nightmares. On the December 18th episode of NXT, Ripley defeated Baszler to win the NXT Women's Championship.
This made her the first person to have won both the NXT Women’s and NXT UK Women’s Championships. She then successfully defended the title against Toni Storm on 25 January 2020 at Worlds Collide. During a long interview with Sportskeeda, Rhea discussed her WrestleMania match with Charlotte Flair: “It’s insane to think that all the higher-ups think so highly of me, especially coming from Adelaide, Australia to now being a part of WWE and having people like Triple H – who was the reason I started wrestling – to have him and Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman actually enjoy what I’m doing and believe in me – it’s a wonderful feeling, and I don’t know how to put it into words.
It just makes me feel very special and proud of how far I’ve come in this business – and how much work, time and effort, blood, sweat and tears I’ve put into this”.
