In the 1990s Chris Jericho fought in the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and the World Championship Wrestling (WCW), as well as internationally in independent Canadian, Mexican, German and Japanese federations. In August 1999 he joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), staying there, with some breaks, for almost twenty years.
In 2018 he returned to Japan, in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), while in 2019 he signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Among other accolades within the WWF/WWE, Jericho has won the Undisputed WWF Championship once, the WCW/World Championship twice, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, the WWE United States Championship two times, and the WWE Intercontinental Championship a record nine times.
Jericho is the ninth Triple Crown Champion, as well as the fourth Grand Slam Champion in history. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the Canadian superstar discussed Chavo Guerrero’s involvement in the episode: “Chavo Guerrero helped produce it, and he’s the reason I decided to do it.
His mindset was, ‘If we don’t do this properly, it’s going to get done anyway. Let’s do it for the right reasons and do it the right way.’ I think he was spot on with that. Chavo was involved, which got me involved, and David Benoit and Nancy’s sister were involved, then I was able to get Dean and Dean’s wife, and Vickie.
Suddenly it became this noble project instead of a hack job, which is what the media tends to do in situations with someone they don’t know. We knew the person behind this, not just the murderer”.
