Before joining WWE, Sheamus fought on the European circuit, where he had several successes, winning the International Heavyweight Championship twice during his tenure in Irish Whip Wrestling (IWW). After joining the main WWE roster in 2009, he became a four-time world champion, having held the WWE Championship three times and the World Heavyweight Championship once.
He also conquered the United States Championship twice and, from 2016 to 2019, he teamed up with Cesaro winning for a record four times (as a tag team) the Raw Tag Team Championship and once the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
In addition to these titles, he won the King of the Ring (2010), the Royal Rumble (2012) and the Money in the Bank (2015), becoming the second-ever wrestler (after Edge) to have won those awards. Speaking with Digital Spy, the Irish superstar commented on getting the gig: “They were looking for someone to play him and they thought wrestlers.
They went to WWE and there were a couple of us involved. I think (AEW’s) Cody was involved and Daniel Bryan was involved, I was, and a few others. I submitted a couple of tapes. "I was overseas and Miz actually did the read with me – I’m still very grateful to him.
We were in Germany and we found a room and filmed it on my phone. I sent it in and they really liked it so when I came back from the European tour they wanted to meet me. I feel like they could have done more with (Bebop and Rocksteady) because they were so entertaining. I’m still hoping that they bring it back, but you never know in this business”.
