Becky Lynch on coming up on a year as Raw Women’s Champion

In the April 8th episode of Raw, after finishing a promo she was hit by Lacey Evans, and immediately after two o'clock they started a fight, Becky Lynch stopped by the guards. The following evening at SmackDown, Lynch held a promo against Lacey Evans herself, who attacked her on her way backstage. In the April 15th episode of Raw, Becky defeated Ruby Riott.

In 2018, Lynch transitioned towards a more aggressive character, which started at SummerSlam when she attacked Charlotte Flair, perceiving herself as an unfairly-treated underdog and dubbing herself "The Man", resulting in a large increase in her popularity and fan support.

In January 2019, she won the women's Royal Rumble match. At WrestleMania 35, in what was the first time women headlined a WrestleMania event, Lynch won both the Raw Women's Championship and SmackDown Women's Championship, making her a double champion and the only woman to hold both titles simultaneously. She is now an overall four-time women's champion in WWE.

In a long interview with Sporting News, she reflected on coming up on a year as Raw Women’s Champion: “Yeah. I’ve had a little time to think about it. It’s pretty crazy and it brings its own challenges. And because of that, because I’ve had it for a year, I’ve been nonstop going for a year, over a year. So, it really was a case of constantly going and constantly being on the go and now and I’ve finally gotten the chance to reflect on the past year and reflect on what I want for the future, the next year, which is pretty cool.”

On Shayna Baszler: "She’s a technician. She’s as good as anybody I’ve ever seen so it can be tricky trying to lock on that armbar. But, you know, I’m always looking for alternative ways. She’s powerful. She’s strong. She’s intense, she’s dominant like we saw at Elimination Chamber. She’s unlike anybody I’ve faced in the last year.”
